Copying works from the masters is a rare opportunity that
can greatly affect the knowledge of the individual artist.
Close examination of such master works results in the
better understanding of the decision-making processes and
many techniques of the master artist. This class is
designed to offer the student the chance for intensive
study of master paintings with palette in hand. Drawing,
design, and color relationships will be emphasized. The
class will copy works of interest selected by the
individuals of the class. There will be short weekly
lectures and demos on varying topics related to the master
works as well as handouts pertaining to the individual
artists chosen. The class is subject to the rules and
regulations for copying that the Metropolitan has in place
and students will be required to renew the permit to copy
every four weeks. This class is for those with intermediate
or advanced skill levels. Students may paint or draw.
